WHAT ARE THE HYGIENE MEASURES?

Use of the sauna:

  • Remove glasses or contact lenses, jewelry to avoid the risk of burns.
  • The telephone and other electronic devices remain outside the sauna.
  • Do not do a sauna session alone for safety reasons.
  • Drink water before, between each sauna/shower combination and at the end of the session to make up for the lack of water and mineral salts attributable to perspiration.
  • Remove any patches whatever their use.
  • Never go into a sauna, even a private one, without a towel, it will serve as protection between the bench and your body because the heat favors fungi and fungal infections.

Vigilance: headaches, asthma, diabetes, venous insufficiency, skin problems.

WHAT ARE THE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SPA USE?
Spa and health: the risks of a high temperature

A high temperature has advantages for your body but also disadvantages that it is important to know and take into account. High spa water or hot air temperature can cause your heart to beat faster, blood vessels to dilate, blood pressure to drop, blood flow and body temperature to increase, and cause heavy sweating. If these effects are harmless for some people, they are much less so for others who have more or less serious health problems.

Spa and contraindications: people at risk

For the use of a spa, the people most at risk are pregnant women. Indeed, hot water promotes blood pressure drops and can cause discomfort in pregnant women and poor irrigation of the placenta. The bubbles that come out of the massage nozzles can cause contractions and premature delivery. In addition, the bacteria present in the water of spas are dangerous for pregnant women and more particularly during the first trimester.

Also note that the spa is not recommended for young children because the high temperature of the water (approximately 37°C) can cause heat stroke in children and increase the risk of dehydration when they try to regulate body temperature.

The spa is also not recommended for people with heart, kidney, blood or blood pressure problems.

Good to know: in addition to dehydration, your child is also at risk of drowning in a jacuzzi. It is imperative to watch him and never leave him alone even if he seems autonomous and is comfortable in an aquatic environment. It only takes a few centimeters of water and a few minutes of inattention to let your child drown.

Spa: the right things to do

To use your spa properly, it is recommended not to overheat the water. This should never exceed 40°C for adults because there is a risk of hyperthermia in the spa. If your body temperature is too high, you risk dizziness, lethargy or fainting. If you begin to feel unwell in your hot tub, get out of the water immediately and rest for a few moments in a normally heated room.

For children, watch the length of their spa session. No more than 10 minutes even if it demands more of you, it is better to opt for several sessions with breaks for the body. For adults, the session can last up to 20-30 minutes.
WHAT ARE THE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE FOR CHILDREN?

The sauna is strongly discouraged under 3 years old, the time spent in the sauna for children should not exceed 5 minutes in a row. It is the same for the spa, it is better to take several small baths of 10 min than 20 or 30 min as for an adult. An adult must always be in the immediate vicinity and vigilant.
